CLUB CONSTITUTION & GOVERNANCE

1. Name and Legal Form

The name of the club shall be Zurich Lions Cricket Club (hereinafter referred to as "the Club"). 
It shall be a non-profit, voluntary association governed by Articles 60–79 of the Swiss Civil Code.

2. Location

The Club is located in Zurich, Switzerland.

3. Purpose and Objectives

The objectives of the Club are:

  • To promote and develop the sport of cricket in Zurich and surrounding areas.

  • To provide facilities and training for players of all ages and skill levels.

  • To encourage youth and grassroots participation.

  • To uphold the values of fair play, respect, and inclusivity.

  • To participate in local, regional, and international cricket competitions.

  • To represent Zurich in the Cricket Switzerland framework.

4. Membership

4.1 Eligibility

Membership is open to anyone regardless of age, nationality, or background, who agrees to abide by the Constitution and Code of Conduct.

4.2 Categories

  • Senior Member (18+)

  • Junior Member (under 18)

  • Honorary Member

  • Supporter Member

4.3 Admission and Resignation

  • Membership applications must be approved by the Club Committee.

  • A member may resign at any time via written notice to the Secretary.

  • The Committee reserves the right to terminate membership for violation of club rules.

5. Governance Structure

5.1 The Committee

The management of the Club shall be entrusted to a Committee composed of:

  • President

  • Secretary

  • Treasurer

  • Club Captain (s)

  • Social Media Co-ordinator

  • Trainers

  • Committee members are elected for a 1-year term at the Annual General Meeting (AGM).

5.2 Powers and Responsibilities

  • Administer club affairs and finances.

  • Enforce the constitution and policies.

  • Represent the club in external matters.

  • Oversee fixtures, training, development, and tournaments.

6. General Meetings

6.1 Annual General Meeting (AGM)

  • Held once a year, preferably in January or February.

  • Quorum: 25% of total voting members.

  • Business includes: reports, accounts, elections, constitutional amendments.

6.2 Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM)

  • Can be called by the Committee or by 25% of members via written request.

7. Finances

  • The Club is a non-profit entity.

  • Income is derived from membership fees, donations, grants, and sponsorships.

  • The Treasurer shall maintain transparent and accurate accounts.

  • Accounts will be reviewed annually and presented at the AGM.

8. Code of Conduct

All members, players, and supporters must:

  • Show respect to teammates, opponents, officials, and spectators.

  • Uphold the spirit of cricket and sportsmanship.

  • Avoid any discrimination, abuse, or harassment.

  • Follow the disciplinary procedures in case of misconduct.

9. Disciplinary Procedures

  • The Committee may warn, suspend, or expel members for misconduct.

  • The member has the right to appeal at the next AGM or through an impartial panel.

10. Amendments

  • Proposed amendments must be submitted in writing before the AGM.

  • Amendments require a two-thirds majority vote of members present.

11. Dissolution

In the event of dissolution:

  • Assets shall be transferred to a local non-profit sporting or youth organization in Zurich, after all liabilities are cleared.

12. Entry Into Force

This Constitution was adopted at the inaugural General Meeting held on 25-October-2020.
It is binding on all members from that date forward.
