Super Lions thrilled to record its first CSRL victory with a dominant 190-Run win over Zurich Mavericks, Hünenberg

Super Lions showcased a powerful batting performance in CSRL match, amassing an impressive total of 257 runs in just 40 overs against the Zurich Mavericks. Minal was in staggering form and made his 2nd back to back half century. Sara showed his tall stature with top performance with 64 runs and claiming 1 wicket. Srini bowl his heart and knocked 4 crucial wickets. Zurich Mavericks bowler Wafadar was the enchanted performer and claimed 4 wickets in his 7 overs.

Result: Super Lions won by 190 Runs

1st Innings: Super Lions batting first – Minal continued his class

Forward thinking and to build depth in the batting order, Super Lions asked Aditya and Minal to start the innings. Both openers got off to a strong start with Minal played his strokes and shorts and Aditya negated the swing. Super Lions lost Adi at 21/1 at 2.5 overs, next Sriniwas was tasked to stand on the wicket and support Minal. Both built stable partnership and Minal goes on to carry the onslaught. Sriniwas supported Minal but was tragically run out at an individual score of 5 runs. His patience and determination to stand on the wicket helped Super Lions to cross 52/2 in 9.5 overs.

Sara joined Minal and both carried out amazing shorts all over the ground. Minal fell just after scoring his 2nd back to back fifty (4s*3/6s4*) in the 14 over (80/3). Now, Lokesh join Sara and they took the game away from Mavericks with blistering knock and hitting long amassing boundaries. Sara reached his maiden half century of Season 2024 and was in some form. Both built partnership of 94 runs and set the momentum for Super Lions to set a big target. Lokesh scored a brilliant 37 Runs (4s*7) and was caught by Akram at backfoot point when the score was 172/4 in 29.3 overs.

Next Sam joined Sara and with attacking mindset, started to hit boundaries. Both buit a strong 43 runs partnership. In the meantime, to push the runrate further up, Sara was caught at long on, he scored 64 runs (4s*4/6s*4) and Super Lions were 215-5 in 33.3 overs. Yuva joined Sam and scored 12 quick runs with one huge six. Sam scored quick 30 runs off 28 balls (4s*5).

At the lower down, Sam, Amit Shinwari and Naseem added some valuable runs and Super Lions ended up with a mammoth score of 257 runs. Zurich Mavericks bowler wafadar was the most highlighted bower and claimed 4 big wickets.

2nd Innings: Mavericks up to a challenging target

It was always going to be very hard to chase the target in the astounding hot day of Zurich summer. The Sun was fiery so were the Super Lions bowlers, it was just another day for Aditya, he claimed Maverick’s opener Rakesh wicket in the very first over (1/1). Akram tried to be offensive and hit a Six in the 3rd over. In the Sriniwas in his 2nd over, claimed two back to back wickets of Jayant and Abhishek (18/3). Mavericks were looking down as Akram was sent back in the 5th over by Aditya. Mavericks were 18/4 in 4.1 overs.

By the end of 7th over, Mavericks have lost their half side at 38/5. Shinwari sent Qasem and Paiman to pavilion in his very first and 3rd over (56/6). Sara, join the trade and took one wicket (56/7). Mavericks had realised that the game was over for them as the top order was crumbled by magnificent Super Lions bowling and fielding. Remaining lower order could not trouble the bowlers and Mavericks lost their side at a meagre score of 67 runs in 14.3 overs. With this Super Lions recorded their 1st victory by a margin of 190 runs in CSRL tournament.

Sara was adjudged the MoM with his 64 runs (4s*4/6s*4) and 1 wicket. Minal stellar half century was highlight of Super Lions innings. Srini was lethal in his bowling and claimed 4 wickets, Aditya and Shinwari took 2 wickets each.
