New season, new Kit though the same hunger!! Zurich lions are roaring to start their campaign in the first match of the CS T-10 tournament to begin their season.
CST10 Tournament – Pool 4
Game 1: Zurich Lions CC v Nomads CC Embrach
Date: 24 April 2022
Time: 12:30 CET
Ground: Wettingen, Aargau
Match begins:
Riding high on confidence being CSNL 2021 champions last year, Lions are confident but that is not built an overnight ago. Cricket is played on ground not on papers and they were firmly aware of this. After losing the toss Lions were invited to bat first. In a format where there is no room of errors, in a blink of eye equation changes lions needed a quick start. Having solid openers in Kanishk and Ankush lions got off to the flyer when they blistered their partnership. Both looked in supreme touch. With slight drizzles, wet outfield and damp pitch it was difficult task to begin but they cared less to tee off from the first ball and Ankush was more attacking hitting a six and four and bang it was 14 from first over. It kept going until the 6th over score was 76/0.
Introducing TeamZLCC New Jersey (Friendly and Training Kit)
Play was halted due to heavy rain and when the match resumed as it always happens batsmen lost momentum and both openers fell. Ankush made 41 (3 fours, 2 sixes), Kanishk made 24 (3 fours).
Few more wickets and middle order stumbled a little bit to up the ante and lions eventually ended up having -10 overs 106/7. Given the conditions it was tough to grip the bowl for the bowlers, slippery for the fielders but throwing caution to the wind lions were confident enough to defend their den.

MoM - Ankush
*Time for a break – 10 min. Second innings to start*
Lions are in huddle and they are all pumped up to go. A brilliant first over by Sonu saw Nomads CC Embrach, 2 wickets down in first over itself, one taken superbly by Mayur and another one by Senthil. Ably helped by Kanishk who took another one and Nomads were in all sort of troubles when they had 3 overs 7/3. Excellent bowling and tight fielding by Zurich lions literally choked any kind of momentum for the opposition when they were 24/4 in 6 overs.
Catching and ground fielding was superb by lions where Sarfaraz took a blinder of a catch in 7th over. Mayank also took a flier in 8th which seemed a difficult catch. Sara, Snehil bowled superbly in the middle overs and any kind of hope of run chase was all but over for Nomads 2 CC.
Post Match Presentation - Sara and Sonu
were jointly adjudged MoM for their deadly
Bowling performances
Everyone was into their best elements - keeper, fielders, bowlers, batsmen – the whole team showed the preparations and practice lions had put in. Eventually Nomads CC 2 folded for just a meagre 43/10 in 9.2 overs handing Lions a massive win by 63 runs.
CST10 Game 2: Lions v Aargau CC: With the second match between Zurich Lions and Aargau CC washed off due to inclement weather. Later on Aargau CC and Lions shared the points after mutual discussion.
Currently, Zurich lions topped the Pool 4 table and booked their birth for going to Zuoz where the rest of the CS T-10 tournament will be played. Overall quite a professional and clinical win by lions which sums up our motto this year
“Practice like you never won, Perform like you never lost”.
Every single sweat we are putting into practice is the result we are achieving. Success is not linear they are sinusoidal. Full of ups and downs. Growth and success happens in the shadows of the failures. We had to endure the failures for many seasons to see the fruits of success where we are today. There will be always people who will believe in us, when no body does – we thank our supporters for sticking with us.
We are here to stay, to play the game long. “Blazing our own trail”
