CSPL: Lions Continued on their 3rd Disappointment in CSPL League against Olten CC, Obergössen

Lions CSPL Journey: Lions continued their disappointing CSPL record after losing back-to-back 3 CSPL games against Geneva CC, Power Wintherthur CC and Olten CC. Lions are at the Bottom of CSPL Standing Table.

Toss: Olten CC won the toss and elected to Bat first

Olten CC after setting a mammoth target of 349 runs, went crushing through Lions batting order & recorded a comfortable win by 271 runs.

1 Innings:

Olten CC openers (Raihan and Captain Shahid) showed resistance to Lions opening bowlers (Sonu and Kanishk) and took on every opportunity to score in boundaries. It was seem like that Sunday high rise mercury was only affecting Lions bowlers and fielders, as Lions bowlers created some opportunities, but fielders failed to grab them.

Lions got 1st breakthrough in 12th over with Raihan (59 Runs) and score read 123/1. Olten CC continued scoring at good pace and lost their 2nd wicket in 20th over (166/2). For a brief moment of time, Lions bowlers successfully grabbed 5 more wickets (186/3; 193/4; 222/5; 222/6; 267/7) and looking to bring Olten CC innings to end under 300. However, Olten CC batsmen Nuwan (53) & Gowree (40) had planned something else as both showed a blitz batting and scored 93 runs in 42 balls (3x4s and 10x6s).

Lions bowlers were thrashed throughout the Olten CC innings with only Sonu exceptionally to have best bowling economy of 5.3 in 8 overs. Otherwise, all other Lions bowlers struggled to put a stop on boundaries with Kanishk (59 runs in 6 overs); Senthil (67 runs in 7 overs); Omed (75 runs in 8 overs); Mayur (51 runs in 7 overs); and Snehil (48 runs in 4 overs).

Lions asked to chase 349 runs in 40 overs – a Mammoth task for Lions batsmen

2 Innings:

Lions openers Ankush and Kanishk, knew their roles, nevertheless, from the very beginning, Olten CC bowlers showed temperament to restrict Lions batsmen. Ankush was able to reach in double Digit score before he got out on 23 runs (29/1). Lions batsmen tried their best the breakoff from the shackles but were completely overpowered by Olten CC bowlers. Eventually, Lions CC batsmen failed to build one single partnership as wickets kept falling one after one like a domino effect 29-1; 34-2; 39-3; 39-4; 43-5; 45-6; 64-7; 66-8; 77-9. It was a sorry looking scorecard for Lions batting order, which finally manage to put a meagre total of 77 runs in 27 overs.

Summary:

Olten CC overshadowed Lions in Batting, Bowling and fielding and recorded a convincing win against Lions by 271 Runs.
