CS T10: Lions v Olten CC, Cossonay

Game time folks:

Match day: Saturday, 02.10.2021

Match time: 13:00 hrs. CET

Ground: En Marche, Cossonay

League: T-10 Semifinals

On a bright sunny afternoon Zurich Lions are facing Olten CC. Upbeat about the momentum and results echoing their hard work Zurich Lions won the toss and elected to bat first.

Match begins:

Zurich lions opened with Ankush and Kanishk who first saw off few balls to see what would be good score to set. Ankush played superbly when the duo raced to 30 in 3rd over also Kanishk got out in same over. Mayank joined Ankush and they both were seeing off good balls and hitting the odd ones out. However some tight bowling by Olten tightened up the rate and that created pressure when Ankush got out in 6th over 51/2 making 26 runs. He gave good impetus but in last 4 overs Lions were supposed to go all guns; tight bowling didn’t allow them to free up and ZLCC batsmen also struggled to make way when the strangled their own laces on boot with some agricultural hoicks. Things would have been not better Sheshu had not hit 3 boundaries in last few balls. Eventually Zurich lions could only manage 74/8 in their 10 over quota.

To be honest not enough on the board to defend against team packed with power hitters but you must never lose slightest of hopes in sports. Cricket is a leveler and history shows up that humility teams had to bite; in against such determined teams. Lions wants to challenge and ready to defend whatever their batsmen had got.

Time for a break 10 mins.

In 10 overs to chase 7 runs an over is always said to be easy given when the Olten are known for slogging and power hitting. Exceptional first over by Sonu only gave them 3 runs. Kanishk went for 19 runs in 2nd over not before getting a wicket, though momentum shifted again in favor of Olten. Sensational catch by Snehil on Sonu’s third over saw 2nd blood. Lions got the belief back. Snehil and Mayur bowled few tight overs but some odd runs kept coming. It all went down to the wire when Olten needed 20 runs in 3 overs.

One thing which is best about lions are that, they always backed their belief and supported each other doesn’t matter whatever the result might be. Lions eventually ended up on the wrong side of the result when Olten won in 8th Over which might look easy on the scoreboard but in reality it wasn’t. Lions gave all what they could but it wasn’t our day.

Fought like Sparta’s but fell of the egde. Lions were fighting with much settled opponents and we always believe that we will come up with the extra ounce of power it takes to win when we play again. It hurts loosing however we showed great fight even with a meager score to defend. We will keep fighting.

The sun will rise again we will shine again.

Believe. Become. Go Lions.
