Draw & Round: Cricket Switzerland T10 Championship - Round: 1 Toss: ZLCC won the toss and elected to Bat
On a cloudy morning of 08 April 2023, Zurich Lions CC & Basel CC, took to the pitch to kick start their Season 2023 opener of CS T10 Tournament. The ground was damp due to overnight rain, anticipated to help bowlers and both teams were pumped to get off to a win.
ZLCC won the toss and elected to bat first. After loosing early wicket, Ankush & Mayur made a solid turnaround, scoring at a brisk pace and putting the Basel CC bowlers under pressure. Ankush played a flamboyant innings of 30, smashing 2 boundaries & 1 six, while Mayur made 16. Their partnership took ZLCC to a respectable total. Basel struck back with a flurry of wickets, leaving ZLCC in a spot of bother midway. However ZLCC was able to put a fighting total of 10 over 80/7.
In reply to chase 81, Basel got off to a shaky start, couldn't rotate the strike much due to disciplined bowling from ZLCC and after losing few quick wickets the chase got tricky. Along with upfront discipline from pace bowlers, ZLCC spin trio of Ashwin, Sara & Mayur spun the web and bamboozled Basel batsmen who never threatened to take away the chase. In the end ZLCC won comfortably by 21 runs which is a big boost in T-10 format.
Overall, it was a high-quality match, played in a great spirit, and ZLCC got off to a good start for the season. ZLCC will be playing their next T10 match on Saturday 22nd April 2023 in Olten vs Oletn CC.
